Eremos

Eremos is a place to meet God where He’s already waiting and longing to meet us.

The Greek word “eremos” means “wilderness,” a solitary place. The Bible uses this term to describe the place where John the Baptist preached about the coming of Jesus (the voice of one crying in the wilderness) and where Jesus was tempted by Satan before beginning His public ministry (led by the Spirit into the wilderness). It’s also the place of solitude where Jesus often retreated from the crowds to pray.

As we live out Christ’s example of loving our neighbor, we desire to provide a spiritual place to meet God, a wilderness away from the crush of the world, to shape our hearts and minds to think and act like Jesus.

Some of our neighbors are young adults in their mid-20s whom we disciple to follow the narrow way of Jesus in their daily lives. Together we read God’s Word with the heart to discover what He’s saying to us about real-life issues like identity, confidence, anxiety, depression, absolute truth, and other areas of struggle. In community we seek to experience Jesus as a friend, Savior, and Ruler of our lives. Discovering (perhaps for the first time) that knowing Him makes all the difference. That we can be transformed if we let Him do the work.

We know that God doesn’t try to hide from us. He wants to reveal Himself to us, along with the deeper truths of His Spirit. We cooperate with His Spirit in guiding fellow sojourners with Christ to have spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear His truth.
